Jim Stillman Cup (48km)
About Jim Stillman
Jim Stillman
was a marksman in the 39th Australian Infantary Battalion who defended
Australia in 1942 on the Kokoda Track. Jim was at Kokoda when the
first Milita arrived and was one of the few soldiers that weren't
wounded on the Kokoda Track. Jim was 21 years old when he left
Australia to serve in Papua New Guinea.
After the war, Jim returned to Australia where he met and married
his wife Olive, persued a career as an engineer and spent many
enjoyable hours fishing.
Jim is now 88 years old, he lives on the Gold Coast and is a great supporter of the Kokoda Challenge returning each year with his son Geoff.
The Jim Stillman Cup
The Jim Stillman Cup is a 48km bush walking Kokoda Challenge High School Competition.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The Jim Stillman Cup starts at Numinbah Hall (the Halfway mark for the 96km event) on Saturday 17th July at 11am.
- Registrations will open in the hall from 10am.
- More information will be provided at the briefing nights which will also become available on the competitors area of the website from Tuesday 29th June.
To enter a high school must register a team of 4 students, plus one adult supervisor. All students must obtain written approval from their parent/guardian prior to competing.
This is not a relay event - all 5 team members must advance through
the 7 check points along the 48km course to the finish line.
At designated checkpoints teams are able to take a break and regroup with the help of their support crew.
The course is tough and training is essential.
In 2010 each team is required to pay a total $420 - comprising of a $220 non refundable registration fee and further $200 (minimum) fund raising contribution which is fully tax deductible.

Congratulations to the 2010 Winners of the Jim Stillman Cup, Woodrige State High School who crossed the line in a new record time of 6hours 43 mins.
