Check List for Team Members

Below are recommendations for each team member.  Please feel free to print and use this check list.

GENERAL ITEMS

Comfortable Daypack, 15-25 litre size is fine.

 
Whistle, to attract attention if lost or injured.              
Mobile phones on different networks.
Vaseline or other cream, for the feet and to stop chaffing.
Personal identification.
Money for emergencies

Map and protective wet weather pouch.
Compass or GPS.
Water container/s with two litre capacity. Consider the type that has a drinking tube. If it’s easy to get to your water you will drink more frequently.
Hiking poles’ these are really great when going up and down hills especially near the end.
Dry bag or plastic bags (to keep clothes dry and/or put wet gear in).
Watch (waterproof is best).
High energy snacks, like chocolate, dried fruit, glucose tablets and high energy bars.
Salty snacks (peanuts, pretzels etc) to help prevent cramping.
Sweets to suck (for dry mouth, boredom).
Small travel towel (light and dries quickly) or hand towel.
Quick-dry shorts or trousers. These help to stop chafing.
Base layer clothing / underwear. This technical clothing will pull perspiration away from your body and therefore reduces chafing and chills from sweating.
Spare socks. Your feet will love you for a change of socks!
Sock liners. These are another great invention that helps prevent blisters.
Good trail running shoes or boots. Remember to wear the same socks that you will wear on the Challenge when you have these fitted.
Spare T-shirt (especially if your sponsor’s name is on it).
Thermal clothing (long sleeve top and long pants). These are light, warm and don’t weigh much.
Light jacket or shell suit, Light trousers or shell suit pants

Toilet Paper & Rubbish Bags

Small repair kit containing:
  •   Spare shoelaces
  •   Safety pins
  •   String (can be used as laces or ‘drying line’ on packs etc.)
  •   Small First Aid Kit containing:
  •   Cloth strip sticking plaster
  •   Paracetamol or Aspirin
  •   Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory)
  •   Eucalyptus or tea tree oil (disinfectant)


OTHER ITEMS - Day Time

 Sun hat with brim   
 Sunglasses, with cord  
Sunblock

OTHER ITEMS - Night Time

 Head torch     
 Spare torch batteries (at least two sets)  
Spare torch bulbs (two)
Warm clothing
