| THE OPTIMISTS | |
| What euphoria to be presented with the dog tags! It's a reward The Optimists each will treasure. We're proud of how we supported one another, how well our support crew did, how we overcame sleep deprivation, soreness and all the rest. Good weather meant it's not in the same league as a Kokoda trail walk in torrential rain, but it was still mightly tough and we congratulate everyone who finished ...and those who gave their best. | |
| YABBA YAKKAS | |
| Wow, Words can not explain what the Kokoda Challenge does for you
personally, the lessons that you learn with the team members and fellow
people out on the track. Most people out on the track would have seen or heard the Yabba Yakkas in our bright yellow T-shirts and we did get a little loud with encouragements and the realization that 4 very average mum's can do anything. |

| CARDINAL ANGELS by Helen James |
|
| Wow - what an amazing event! We were so proud of our efforts finishing 25th overall and 3rd in the female category with all four team members. We all had our hard moments where we struggled but we got each other through, the night time was particularly hard, especially between CP 8 & 9...THAT HILL!!! I seriously didn't think it was ever going to end. Apart from that, the event was such an incredible success and the volunteers were just amazing - so encouraging at every checkpoint. I'm already thinking about next year, now we know what to expect! |

| NQ NUTTERS |
|
| Well, after 26hrs 24mins of walking/trotting/wincing/hopping, we made it
the 96kms to that elusive finish line (I'm sure the next check point is
only 100m away)! After a crackin' start NQ Nutters found themselves at Polly's Kitchen and feeling pretty good about the position we were in. Then night set in and all the bed bugs, drop bears and blister bunnies came out to play... Read FULL STORY |

| KOAN NESS | |
| The six months of training culminated in the most amazing event last
weekend. I had been initiated into the KC last year as the supervisor
for my daughter, Celia's, Cav Rd School team. Last year we made it to
Numinbah Hall and had to pull out due to fatigue. This year we were determined to give it another crack. Three of us in our family decided to forge ahead in our own direction. I formed a team (Koan Ness) with Jenn, Carly and Pete. My husband Mark formed a team as well (50 is the New 40), and Celia signed up for another go to compete in the Stan Bisset Cup - with 5 Cav Rd teams this year.... Read FULL STORY |
| HILL BREAKERS | |
| Hillbreakers were a disjointed team of two Sydney-siders and two Gold Coasters. We only met as a team in the dark chilly morning of the challenge. As the Last Post resonated in the still, cool air at Mudgeeraba Village Green you could have plucked the adrenaline from that air the buzz was so enormous.. Read FULL STORY | ![]() |
QINETIQ AUSTRALIA 4 - The walk according to Benny...
To start with I turned up to the line not 100%; having sustained a broken toe on the Thursday night from Oztag....not a good start but no matter it wasn't going to stop me!!!! Onward to the start, there were 1500 competitors and lots of onlookers rearing and ready to go when a stirring rendition of the last post was played with one lady behind me breaking down.....Read FULL STORY
