Are you up to the Challenge?
Tue Jan 12 2010
Registration is now open for the Kokoda Challenge! And with hundreds of teams already registered, 2010 is sure to be the biggest year yet.
Get ready to join 1600 other like-minded people taking the opportunity to participate in Australia's toughest team cross-country event.
Whether this is your first challenge or your sixth, the arduous 96km course snaking through the Gold Coast Hinterland is sure to pit you up against both physical and mental tests, while the 5000 meters of vertical elevation will taunt you with the prospect of giving up. With each step you will become more aware of the Kokoda Spirit.
The Kokoda Spirit - mateship, endurance, courage and sacrifice will be alive and well on the 17-18th of July, as each of you experience (on some level) a sense of what the diggers endured on the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea, way back in 1942.

As you take on this journey, remind yourself that it's all for a good cause. By participating you are playing an important role in supporting the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program. And that's what this event is really all about.
The Kokoda Challenge is the major fundraiser for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program. The program allows a diverse group of young people to train and walk alongside you in the Kokoda Challenge. And from there, take on the journey of a lifetime - walking the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. During the 14 month program the Kokoda Kids (as they are fondly known) are equipped with lifelong skills such as improved confidence, self-awareness and a true sense of belonging.
In 2010 we (the KCA) need to raise $700,000 to continue to improve the lives of our Kokoda Kids. Your efforts combined with donations from friends, family and the broader community, will get us across the line. This no-doubt is a sound investment in all of our futures.
So, the time is nigh - organise your three team mates and secure your team spot in the 2010 Kokoda Challenge.
Don't beat around the bush, registration opens on the 1st of February, team spots fill quickly and are strictly limited.
