Team Update from NZ!
Tue Feb 9 2010New Zealand couple Tania and Scott will be making the journey across the Tasman to take up this year's Kokoda Challenge. The duo will be joining forces with Gold Coast locals and fellow Kiwi's, Andre and Kylie, to form team S.T.A.K. Attack.
Scott and Tania are no strangers to physical tests and whilst visiting the Gold Coast last year they decided to make the Kokoda Challenge their next accomplishment.
"Both Tania and I ran our first marathons last year so we were looking for the next challenge, the Kokoda event was the perfect chance to combine a family holiday at the same time," said Scott.
Like most Kokoda Challenge competitors it is not just about the physical challenge, as they are also looking forward to honouring the Kokoda legacy. Scott says that allied forces and the amazing Kokoda story will be inspiration for their team.
"The ANZAC relationship between New Zealanders and Aussies and the threat to the Pacific in the great wars is very important to NZers - as it is to Aussies."
Scott and Tania will rely on local team members Kylie and Andre to have the much needed insight into the course. However, they will ensure they are adequately prepared for the Hinterland terrain with the help of the National Parks located near to their home in Whangarei.
"We will be doing most of our training in the Northland region which is a volcanic area and therefore very hilly," explains Scott.
