Volunteers
Volunteers are an integral part of the Kokoda Challenge - without volunteers it could not exist.
The management and organisation of the Kokoda Challenge is carried out by a dedicated group of volunteers who work year round towards improving and developing the Kokoda Challenge event.
On the weekend of the event itself over 3000 volunteers lend their time to ensure the Kokoda Challenge is a safe and professional event for the competitors and their support crew.
The 2009 Challenge was bigger and better than ever with over 300 teams (plus their support crews) participating on the weekend and of course this meant that we needed many more volunteers.

The Kokoda Challenge is most fortunate to have the tremendous backing of the Gold Coast Bushwalking Club and the Gold Coast State Emergency Services. Additional volunteers are provided by a number of service Clubs including Mudgeeraba RSL and Pony Club, Gold Coast, Lions, WICEN and other individuals.
Whilst these organisations and volunteers will be aboard this year, due to our anticipated growth we would welcome any organisation or individual who wish to volunteer for a variety of roles before, during and after the event.
The 96km track has 15 checkpoints including the start and finish. Each checkpoint is manned by volunteers and some have a Medic depending on the size of the checkpoint. In general terms the Bushwalking Club Members look after the overnight checkpoints.
The Kokoda Challenge is a great opportunity to meet some terrific people both volunteers and competitors and of course you can share in the excitement and community spirit of this great event.
