Helping Aussie Teens!

"This program has changed my life. I have met some of the most wonderful people who I now call my friends and love very dearly; and I have been mentored by a few of the world's greatest.

Before my time in the youth program, I was a very shy, very quiet girl. Anyone who knows me now can see a changed Georgia. I have developed into a confident person who is capable of anything.

To be part of something like the Kokoda kids has brought the best out of me - and for that matter, it has brought the best out of everyone in the Gold Coast team" - Georgia Hansson, 2009 Kokoda Kid

And the winner is...

Each year, the team that raises the most money for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program wins a trip for four to Papua New Guinea to walk the historic Kokoda Track.

Whilst many teams made an outstanding contribution to the teenagers in the program, there can only be one winner.

And the winner is...Gordon Green Machine!

Team members Shaun, Bruce and Josh, headed up by their most senior member and fearless leader Wally raised the staggering amount of $19, 431.10. The group of colleagues entered the challenge with two goals, team building and fundraising. According to Wally rallying up a financial contribution from other businesses was as simple as asking.

"We always support our suppliers, so when we entered the Kokoda Challenge we simply called them, explained the cause and they were more than happy to make a donation," says Wally.

"It still hasn't sunk in that we actually won the trip."

This year the top ten teams (combined) fundraising efforts have provided 12 teenagers with the opportunity to gain confidence, direction, life skills and the knowledge that anything is possible.

Thank you to the top ten teams and all the teams who supported the Kokoda Challenge.
