PINNACLE EVENT FAQS

How does the Pinnacle work?

add remove
The Pinnacle event is a three-stage endurance series that progressively challenges teams across three Queensland events, increasing in distance and difficulty.

Teams commit to completing all three Kokoda Challenge events within a 10-week period:

The same team members undertake all three distances, creating a continuous, shared journey from start to finish.

Do the same team members need to complete all three distances?

add remove

Yes. The same team members must complete all three distances as part of the Pinnacle series. Once the Pinnacle begins, teams cannot change or replace members, so everyone who starts the first event must continue together through all three challenges.

Can we change our team or members?

add remove

Team members and updates can be updated up to four weeks before the Sunshine Coast event, but once the Pinnacle has begun, no updates can be made.

If a teammate withdraws mid-event, the rest of the team may continue, but the team will no longer qualify as Pinnacle finishers. Safety is always prioritised, and event staff will support withdrawals.

Is Pinnacle suitable for beginners?

add remove
The Pinnacle is designed to be achievable for newcomers who are committed to training and working together as a team. The staged nature of the series helps ease participants into longer endurance efforts and is the ideal preperation for the 96km Gold Coast event.

Do we need a support crew?

add remove
Support crews are strongly recommended for the 48km event and particularly the 96km. These can be family or friends who meet you at select checkpoints to provide food, fresh gear, first aid, essential supplies - as well as plenty of encouragement to keep you going!

Support crew checkpoint locations and a dedicated handbook with all the event details will be available closer to the event date. For more information, click here.

Your team will experience all 3 Queensland event locations
