Mt Walsh 16 Mar
By far our biggest & hardest training walk so far. Tania, Tracie & myself are all members at CrossFit Maryborough. The owners, Greg & Tash, set us a challenge. Not just offering us an easy donation, they wanted us to earn it and as a bonus, train for the event. Over a period of 12 hours for every lap we completed of Mt Walsh, near Biggenden, they would donate a set amount per lap. It needed to include 3 hours of night walking too.
We set off at 9am, and during the walk we experienced a number of conditions. First thing it was overcast, but a little humid. We had a couple of showers of rain, and also hot sun for a few hours.
As a team we completed 6 laps for a total of 21.61kms, elevation gain 1788m and walking time of 11:21. It was really hard work but definitely worth it. Thanks also to Lyle, Greg, Tash & Mick for your support. And thanks to Mick for walking a lap with us. Great effort!
Training Walk 3 March
Thanks to Tania for the walk this morning. We did the Nerada - Teddington Rd loop. Was a nice morning for it, overcast and a bit cooler.
Training 17 Feb
Thanks to Tania & Tracie for another fun training walk on Sun 17 Feb. We did the Nerada - Teddington Rd loop early morning. We were lucky that it was not too hot. Good to get the k's in the legs. We have a few other walks planned that we are looking forward to
Kingfisher Bay - Lake MacKenzie 26 Jan
Happy Australia Day
What a great day for a walk. We were lucky enough to be invited to a walk on Fraser Island from Kingfisher Bay to Lake Mackenzie return. What a beautiful part of the world we have on our doorstep. Was a 20 km round trip and well worth the effort. The walk was pretty good, some testing hills in there too. We had incentive each way. A swim at the lake when we arrived, and then a well deserved beer when we got back to the resort. Overall a top day out, a great bunch of people and special thanks to our friend Nettie for organising the day
Nerada - Teddington Rd loop 20Jan
Bit of a solo effort today, got up early and decided to do a walk. Went along Nerada Rd into Teddington Rd and back into town, 18km or so. Was not too bad a morning, weather was a bit cooler to start which was nice.
Training is underway
Training has started, first walk was to Teddington Weir and back, a 22km round trip on 05/01/19. Myself, Tania & Tracie are going to Crossfit Maryborough a few sessions a week to also help towards our training. Sadly no big hills around town, that will come though. Our Captain, Kylie, lives in Adelaide so makes it a bit hard for her to join us on our walks, but we know she is training away
