Smallest team with the biggest heart!
As a late-comer leader to this team, I loved every second. I returned from overseas and only met the team 5 days beforehand. I met their families at the start line and they were so welcoming - I knew that this was going to be a great event.
We three Kokodians immediately got into the groove of being a TEAM - waiting for each other and supporting each other emotionally and physically. We coped with the broken poles, the falling teacher, the sore knees, the cold of the night, the painful ankles, the dropped phone, .... the list goes on but we just helped each other whenever and however we could - mateship at its best.
Not forgetting that The Kokoda Challenge's main aim is to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation in their mission to change the lives of young Australians through instilling the values of the Spirit of Kokoda; Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. The girls have worked very hard on their fundraising over several months and have raised more than double their goal.
