ABOUT
Operated by the Kokoda Youth Foundation, The Kokoda Challenge is a team endurance event that sees hikers and trail runners scale some of the most challenging terrain in Australia to raise funds for local youth programs and honour Diggers from the 1942 Kokoda Campaign.
The four values of the Kokoda Spirit, courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice, are what lead our Diggers to prevail against a highly trained enemy during WWII. These are the very values that our events stand for and is what will see your team make it to the finish line, leaving no team member behind.
The Kokoda Challenge is one of the toughest physical and mental feats you may ever face, yet it is only a fraction of the hardship our Veterans faced along the real Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. You will build a profound respect and understand of what these soldiers did to defend out country, all while supporting the transformation of local youth in our experiential program. Are you up for the challenge?

The most physically and emotionally exhausting thing I have ever done, but also the most incredible and inspiring thing I have completed. You are pushed to your absolute limit and you need every ounce of willpower to keep going. But it is worth every step!

Exhilarating, powerful, and so proud of our team. Such a fantastic experience! I'm 50 years young and I enjoyed it so much that I'm doing it again this year!

A lot of life lessons and experiences gained throughout the journey. All the volunteers at all the check points were awesome with their support and motivation they offered everyone. Thanks to all the Kokoda staff and the community for their hard work and to all the competitors.
