About

Hi, It's Me Lincoln - Back to do Kokoda in 2025

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog. I am Lincoln Brown and I am very passionate about the Kokoda Challenge. In 2023 in year 7, I did my very first event with my school, the 48km on the Gold Coast. Last year, I did my second school event, again 48 km on the Gold Coast, but I finished 3 hours quicker in 11 hrs and 52 mins. I was determined to finish under 12 hrs.

This year I am back and guess what. I am determined to have a crack at the big one - the 96 km event. I have been training since the end of last year. I run around 30 km a week up and down forest trails. I am only 13 (I have been given special approval to do the 96 km as I'm technically underage).

Doing the Kokoda Challenge is about raising money for the Kokoda Youth Foundation. This year I have set a goal to raise $5,000. I hope you can help me get there please; I can do the hard physical work to get across the finishing line, but can you help get me over the fundraising finishing line? Please dig deep for this amazing cause.

Thank you for reading my blog ...  Lincoln

p.s. The photo above is me in 2024 after just crossing the finish line after taking 11 hrs 52 mins to do the 48 km

My Updates

1.5.25 Halfway There

Thanks to a generous donor last night, he has pushed my fundraising line past the halfway mark. I'm super excited. Thank you everyone for your donations - the support from my family, friends and amazing community members and local businesses is heartwarming.

30.4.25 - Plant Stall

My latest initiative to raise money is selling plants. My Mum, sister (yes I have one of those) and I, potted them up in the Christmas holidays and they are all growing well and ready for sale. Wish me luck!! Hopefully I get a lot of buyers.

28.4.25 - $2000 - THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone out there who has shown love and supported my fundraiser. Today I passed $2,000. So excited as I head closer to my goal of $5,000.

25.4.25 - Anzac Day

Today, on Anzac Day we reflect on the soldiers who fought for Australia and the importance of keeping the spirit of the Anzacs alive. Kokoda does just that. To finish a Kokoda event, you have to show mateship, courage, endurance and resilience, as you walk in memory of those who fought on the Kokoda Track in PNG. Today I attended my local Anzac parade and commemoration service with my Scout unit. Then I joined in as part of the Brisbane City Anzac Day parade, supporting in a volunteer role carrying banners (I went around twice). I am proud to keep the spirit of the Anzacs alive.

14.4.25 - Mini Flyer

If you have one of these mini flyers in your hands, it means that you have met me on one of my training runs. I am fortunate to meet so many amazing people in my local community who stop for a chat, keen to discover what I am doing. Please find the donate button and drop me a few dollars. Last month I ran 200 kms, plus some cycling and strength and conditioning bootcamps. It is hard work training for a 96 km Kokoda! Please support me.

4.4.25 - 2nd place school's cross country

An exciting and busy day. I ran the school's cross country 4 km and achieved 2nd place. Very happy with my result. The 1st place winner runs at state level so it would be a miracle if I ever caught him. After school I ran 10 km  for Kokoda training, and in the evening I went to Bounce trampolining for 3 hrs with my Scouts. No sleeping in I have to be up at 5 am to run 25 km training before getting into my Saturday.

3.4.25 - First $1,000- YES!! Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in me so far. I have just passed my first $1,000. 1/5 of the way there. A million thanks!

8.3.25 - Cyclone Alfred

A first for me. Experiencing my first cyclone. Thankfully it wasn't a Cat 5 one. This morning I was out in our road, clearing away fallen trees with my Dad. Doing our bit for the community. Luckily I did manage a 20 km run yesterday whilst we were waiting for Alfred to appear.

2.3.25 - 50 KM OVER 4 DAYS

I am serious about my training for this 96 km event. These past 4 days I have paced out 50 km. Here I am after finishing a 15 km training session today on Mt Coot-Tha.

28.2.25 - Double Distance / Double Dollars - hopefully!

Sitting here thinking about my past two Kokoda Challenge events. I have done the 48 km twice now. Wow, double that to the 96 I am doing this year. It is going to be brutal. I wonder if my donors will double their donations to match my double distance? Please dig deep for me. Here I am with my team mates last year - I am the little one. Double Distance / Double Dollars - hopefully!

31.1.25 - Selling Bunya Nuts

Hi everyone, I'm always looking at new initiatives for making money for the Kokoda Youth Foundation. Right now I am selling bunya nuts that I have sourced from a property my family owns in Kenilworth. I'm selling them at $20 a kg. Sales have been great. Thank you to everyone who is supporting me!
