Taking on The Kokoda Challenge can seem a little daunting at first. After all, you’re about to undertake what could be one of the biggest mental and physical challenges of your life. This is why we have developed a number of resources to help you and your team make it to the finish line.
Fitness and Nutrition Coach (not to mention a 6-time 96Kms Kokoda Challenge finisher!) Rishi has developed a Fit-For-The-Trail program and app to help your team prepare for Australia’s toughest team endurance event.
In this app, you will find a 12-week comprehensive gym and home-based workout plan (including exercises, stretches, foam rolling drills and more), practical advice on nutrition, gear and activities for mental preparation.
FIT FOR THE TRAIL
While it is important to get out onto your Kokoda Challenge course in order to get to know the track ahead of the events, it’s also important to prepare your body in other ways as the demand on your joints and even your core can be intense. If you haven’t trained properly, you put yourself at risk of injury.
Here’s a sneak peak of what your will get out of this program
- Why are you doing this event? Think deep and find the real reason. It is a good idea to write down your deepest reason for why you are doing this event, why are you ready to go through so much physical pain?
- Building yourself realistic and achievable goals by managing expectations and not comparing yourself to the progress of others.
A handy user-friendly Dashboard will keep you and your Coach up-to-date on your real-time progress and remind you of the tasks within the program
With the ability to message your Coach real-time from within the App ensures you are never alone!
Workouts are easy to follow with video instructions and ability to record your notes and progress against it.
There’s also a lot of guidance to help your body prepare too! You’ll start to track how many kilometres you’ve hiked each week in your app and add little notes so you can build on your knowledge on how your body will respond under pressure. For example:
“Started cramping after 30kms today, need to remember to replenish electrolytes during the next training.”
