Support our team and empower local youth!

TMSHS Big Steppin', is made up of four Year 12 young ladies, who are excited to step onto the track, conquer personal goals, and create lifelong memories. 

This challenge is not only an opportunity to test ourselves physically but also a chance for these young ladies to strengthen their team-working skills, communication, friendships and community engagement skills - which will inevitably prepare them further for the next chapters of their lives.

Our team are tackling Australia's toughest team endurance event, The Kokoda Challenge, to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation in their mission to change the lives of young Australians through instilling the values of the Spirit of Kokoda; Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. These are the values we will embody on our adventure, paying tribute to Kokoda Veterans.

The Kokoda Youth Foundation is an Australian charity that runs free youth programs for kids in the local community, empowering disadvantaged and disengaged youth with the tools to realise their full potential.

My Reflection on the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge – 48km of Grit, Growth, and Grace.

As the leader of TMSHS Big Steppin, I’ve taken some time to reflect on the journey we completed together – 48km through the rugged Gold Coast hinterland as part of the Kokoda Challenge.

To say I’m proud doesn’t even come close. The young women in our team were nothing short of inspirational. They faced every climb, every blister, every doubt with courage, resilience, and heart.

To many, it might sound like "just a 48km walk"—but it is so much more. It’s a mental game, a test of mindset, perseverance, and spirit. It’s about pushing past what you thought were your limits and discovering strength you didn’t know you had.

The biggest challenges weren’t always on the track. They were in the quiet moments—in the fatigue, the discomfort, the self-doubt. But together, we pressed forward. We found joy in the small wins, beauty in the stillness, and power in showing up for each other with love and compassion.

I hope the girls carry the lessons from this experience into the rest of their lives—because I know I will.
