Support our team and empower local youth!

Our team are tackling Australia's toughest team endurance event, The Kokoda Challenge, to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation in their mission to change the lives of young Australians through instilling the values of the Spirit of Kokoda; Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. These are the values we will embody on our adventure, paying tribute to Kokoda Veterans.

This challenge/fundraiser is something close to my heart. In 1939 my pop, Bill Ryan enlisted in 2/2nd Infantry Division of the A.I.F. 2/2nd Battalion. He saw action in Tobruk,  Egypt, Palestine, Libya, Greece, Crete, Syria, Ceylon and New Guinea.

My pop was one of the small number of men who escaped from Crete by submarine in July 1941, after hiding out for two months. Thousands of Allied soldiers were captured and sent to prisoner of war camps in Germany.

While on the Kokoda Trail he was shot in the spine and the bullet emerged through his stomach. He encouraged maggots to clean the wound during the three days he crawled on his hands an knees until he was rescued by the Fuzzy Wuzzies for whom he retained a lifelong gratitude and admiration for.

The Kokoda Youth Foundation is an Australian charity that runs free youth programs for kids in the local community, empowering disadvantaged and disengaged youth with the tools to realise their full potential.
